Sölden
As the largest municipality in the Ötztal Valley, Sölden is a place of exciting contrasts. The internationally renowned ski metropolis offers hotels and accommodations of all kinds. The contrasts continue even at higher altitudes. While the ski area surprises with modern, urban architecture, such as the top-class restaurant "ice Q," centuries-old alpine huts like Stallwiesalm or Kleblealm can be found on the quiet side of the valley, seemingly frozen in time.
Scenic hiking trails lead through the tranquil winter forest or across open terrain to places that tell stories of rich traditions and history. The neighboring Zwieselstein also lures visitors with winter highlights, such as a picturesque cross-country skiing trail along the Gurgler Ache towards the Venter Valley.
In summer, around 300 km of marked hiking trails are available, ranging from challenging ascents over the 3000-meter mark to leisurely cable car rides to lofty heights.
The back Ötztal is a true mountain biking paradise, featuring demanding trails reaching up to 2,850 m above sea level at the edge of eternal ice.

The ice Q Design Restaurant at Gaislachkogl (3,048 m above sea level) and the Ötztal Glacier Road—one of the highest roads in the Eastern Alps—were both filming locations for the James Bond movie "Spectre." The BIG 3—three 3,000-meter ski mountains with observation platforms, the Sölden/Giggijoch Snowpark, the Adrenaline Cup Sölden, the connection between the winter ski area and glacier ski area, the longest ski run of about 15 km with a vertical drop of nearly 2,000 m, and 33 huts in the ski area ensure an unforgettable experience with absolute snow guarantee from October to May. The Almzeit family theme hiking trail and Gletscherzeit interactive exploration journey for the whole family are also highlights, along with the Approved Bike Area by MountainBike Holidays, featuring 16 single trails, the Flow Trail "Teäre Line," and Tyrol's largest pump track. Major events like the FIS Ski World Cup opener, Hannibal, Electric Mountain Festival, and Ötztaler Radmarathon round out the experience.
