Sölden
As the largest municipality in the Ötztal valley, Sölden is a place of exciting contrasts. This internationally acclaimed ski metropolis offers hotels and accommodations of all kinds. The contrasts continue at higher altitudes. While the ski area surprises with modern urban architecture, such as the top restaurant "ice Q," the quieter side of the valley features centuries-old alpine huts like Stallwiesalm and Kleblealm, seemingly untouched by time.
Scenic hiking trails meander through tranquil winter forests or open terrain, leading to spots rich in tradition and history. The nearby Zwieselstein also lures visitors with winter highlights, such as a picturesque cross-country ski trail along the Gurgler Ache toward the Venter Valley.
In summer, around 300 km of marked hiking trails await – from challenging ascents over 3,000 meters to leisurely cable car rides to lofty heights.
The back Ötztal is a true biking paradise, offering demanding routes up to 2,850 meters above sea level, right at the edge of eternal ice.
